FACILITATOR

Jerry, as his friends call him, comes from a family of traditional Roma musicians and has over 30 years of musical experience. He started studying the violin at the age 6, after which he studied the accordion. He held his first concert at the age of 13 in the “Restaurantul Prietenei” in the city of Bucharest. Being a Cafe Concert it was a difficult experience for his fellow violinists to accompany him on the international waltz instrumentals.

In 1991 he founded his first oriental music band – “Royal Junior”, as a partner of his father’s band “Royal Grup”. Until 1998, he continued to sing in the “Ciocârlia Ensemble” of the Ministry of Interna Affairs, with musician Gheorghe Turda as his leader. He was the leader of the band “Gypsy Casual” then he sang in the band “Gypsy Orient” with Vali Ciubotaru.
For 13 years, he continued to sing as a band leader of the Rahova penitentiary’s band. In 2011, the collaboration with Andrei Dinescu began and since 2017, he joined the band Impex, performing musical projects nationally and internationally. He sang at the opening of Constantin Brâncusi’s exhibition in 2019, at the “EUROPALIA International Arts Festival” in Brussels, Belgium, representing Romania within the Romanian Cultural Institute.
In 2019, he sang with Fanfara Ciocârlia in the “Taraf de Impex” project at Electric Brixton, England and in 2019, during the “Europalia” International Arts Festival alongside “Taraf de Caliu”.
