Sumnakay Sound Library includes the digitalization, archiving, and online dissemination of a private collection of contemporary Roma cassettes and tapes produced in the period 1980-2000 in Romania by Roma musicians.
This period covers an influential segment of the recent history in contemporary Roma music and has impacted the current music genres and trends. The digitalization and
achieving this fragment of the cultural heritage of the Roma minority and its publication to the public is required.
Sumnakay Sound Library is primarily used to support the music workshops and the contemporary art activities planned in the project. We believe that creating and making the library available to the general and specialized public will reach their interest in Roma cultural history.
